Right Care, Right Person

Right Care, Right Person (RCRP) is a national partnership approach led by police services alongside ambulance services, hospitals, mental health services and social services.

It aims to ensure vulnerable people with health and social care needs are responded to by the most appropriate specialist service.

The model recognises that many people in mental health crisis will often see a police officer, who cannot provide the specialist care or support they need.

The approach was first adopted by Humberside Police and introduced by the Met in London in 2023.

The approach is being introduced across the East of England and we have set out our position statement, which has been developed as part of our collaborative working with police forces and wider Mental Health (MH) Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC) partners.
