Working with the armed forces
The East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST) are a forces-friendly employer, working with key organisations across the region to support the armed forces community.
EEAST are a forces-friendly employer and are an accredited Trust with the Armed Forces Covenant, being re-awarded with the Gold Award from the Defence Employers Recognition Scheme (DRES). This scheme encompasses awards for employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the armed forces community and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.
EEAST works towards supporting on the following:
- Armed forces insight days – raising awareness of roles within EEAST and recruitment support.
- Annual reserves and armed forces day events.
- Supporting local careers events for service leavers and veterans – including the annual career transition partnership careers fair.
- Sharing good practice with businesses and NHS trusts.
Partnership working has also been developed with both the military and key organisations across the east of England that support the armed forces community including:
- Career Transition Partnership.
- Step Into Health (NHS Employers).
- Soilders’, Sailors’ and Airmen’s Families Association (SSAFA).
- East Anglia Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Associations (RFCA).
- Defence Medical Welfare service (DMWS).
EEAST is also accredited as ‘Veteran Aware’ by the national steering group for the NHS Veteran Covenant Healthcare Alliance (VCHA). This is a real honour for EEAST and demonstrates our dedication to close working with the armed forces community as well as partnership working. This recognition means that we have demonstrated that EEAST supports the armed forces community as an employer, that we ensure that veterans, reservists, cadet force adult volunteers and other members of the armed forces community amongst our workforce are looked after, and that we have good links with other local services and service charities.
