Martin's Journey - Workshop Supervisor

Martin Lee is a workshop supervisor who has worked for the Trust for two years.

With over 28 years of mechanical experience and having been a workshop manager in three different workshops, I decided to join the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) in 2022 as a workshop supervisor in Barton Mills. I was inspired to join the organisation as a lot of my family have worked in the NHS and I wanted to continue my career in a service that gives back.

My role as workshop supervisor involves all aspects of the day to day running of a busy vehicle workshop. From organising the workload for six vehicle technicians, sorting warranty claims, budget management, ordering parts and carrying out MOT’s. I also oversee the commissioning of all new Trust fleet, carrying out pre delivery inspections and quality control of both the vehicles and patient handling equipment.

Working with EEAST is the most rewarding job I think you can have. Knowing each day that every vehicle released back into service from the vehicle workshops is enabling our operations team to provide emergency care to our patients is a great feeling. The team I work with are so committed and go that extra mile to get vehicles out daily to keep our frontline colleagues on the road. It is a pleasure and a privilege to be part of such an important team and service.
